Dhanbad (Jharkhand) [India], May 23 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and said that the JMM have looted and destroyed the state and people will now teach them a lesson.
The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also took to his official X handle and targeted JMM. He said, “The people of Jharkhand have resolved to teach a lesson to those who looted Jharkhand and pushed it into the quagmire of corruption. The lotus is going to bloom here with the support of the people’s trust.”
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while speaking with ANI said, “Huge stack of currency notes are being found here, they (JMM) have looted and destroyed Jharkhand. Crores of rupees are being found with MPs, ministers, and officers, and they have tarnished Jharkhand. The people of Jharkhand are angry, they will teach them such a lesson in the elections that this (INDIA) alliance will not be seen anywhere after this.”
He added further, “The ones who will indulge in corruption, action will be taken against them. It’s not like that we will give them Bharat Ratna. Stacks of cash are being discovered so we will definitely take action against them…”
Taking a jibe at Congress, Chouhan targeted the party for not working to solve the issue of poverty. “Congress kept the people of the country poor and became rich themselves. It never eradicated poverty, whereas under the leadership of the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 25 crore people came above the poverty line,”
Chouhan also expressed confidence in the victory of the saffron party and said, “BJP has crossed 300 seats and it is soon going to cross 400 seats. BJP is winning all 14 seats in Jharkhand.”
On the Lok Sabha elections, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said there is a one-sided wave in favour of the BJP and added, “NDA is going to get 400 seats in the country. BJP will win 14 out of 14 seats in Jharkhand and 29 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh.”
Notably, the JMM is part of the INDIA bloc and is contesting elections in alliance with the Congress in Jharkhand and Odisha. Jharkhand is polling across four phases: May 13, 20, 25, and June 1.
In 2019, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 12 seats in Jharkhand, with the BJP winning 11. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress got one seat each. The general elections are being held in seven phases in a six-week marathon running from April 19 to June 1. (ANI)
