New Delhi [India], August 15 (ANI): The country is all prepared to celebrate the 78th Independence Day today, Thursday.
In the national capital, historical monuments, iconic landmarks and government buildings were lit up in the colours of the national flag to commemorate the freedom movement that led to the country’s independence in 1947.
The India Gate, the North Block, Samvidhaan Sadan (Old Parliament House), Safdarjung Tomb and the Vikas Minar were lit up in the tricolour on the eve of Independence Day.
Meanwhile, security has also been enhanced in the national capital as vehicles are being checked in the wake of Independence Day celebrations.
In Mumbai, several buildings and landmarks were also lit up in tricolour on the eve of the 78th Independence Day.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal, Mantralaya Building, SBI Building, Shipping Corporation and the Bandra-Worli sea link were lit up in the tricolour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag and deliver his 11th consecutive speech to the nation from the Red Fort on Thursday morning. (ANI)
