Shimla [Himachal Pradesh) [India], November 7 (ANI): In a significant move towards reorganization and consolidation, the All India Congress Committee has dissolved all State, district and block-level bodies of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, following a joint request by state Congress leaders, including State Congress Chief Pratibha Singh and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. This decision, according to Singh, is aimed at restructuring the party at the grassroots level to enhance its effectiveness and prepare for upcoming electoral challenges.
Speaking to media representatives in Shimla, Pratibha Singh explained the rationale behind this development, attributing it to discussions with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.
On the dissolution of the Himachal Pradesh Congress’s district and block-level executive committee, Congress state president Pratibha Singh said that she had taken this decision after talking to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, after which the high command was requested to dissolve these executive committees.
She said that for this she thanks the central high command, who has taken this decision after thinking over it.
Singh emphasized the need to create an inclusive new executive committee that would represent diverse communities and groups within the state, particularly tribal people, OBCs, women, and members of the Scheduled Castes.
She stated, “Now such people will have to be added to the party who will work for the strengthening of the party in the coming times. It is also very important to add tribal people in the new organization, there are OBC people, women, and it is very important for all Scheduled Caste people to be in the executive committee.”
She further remarked that the prior committee had grown too large and had included individuals who were not actively engaged in the party’s day-to-day activities. Moving forward, the goal will be to streamline the committee by bringing in committed workers who are willing to dedicate time and effort to strengthen the party on the ground.
“We have taken this decision that now it will be formed in a new way and in the coming times, we have such an organization ready so that we can start preparing for the next assembly elections from today. In the last assembly elections, an attempt was made to include those people who wanted a place in the organization, due to which the executive became very large. Now we want that in place of those who are inactive in the party and are not contributing, we should take such people who give their time and are working day and night in the field to strengthen the party,” she said.
Responding to criticism from the BJP, which alleged that the dissolution was a result of internal factionalism, Singh dismissed these claims as baseless.
She clarified, “The allegations of factionalism being made by the BJP are wrong. I said that we will take everyone into confidence and as and when we give suggestions, we will try to include those who we want to see working in the field in the party so that they can also become active and work day and night to strengthen the party.”
In a firm stance on revitalizing party discipline, Singh added that inactive senior members, especially those balancing government roles with party work, may be replaced with other active members who can dedicate themselves fully to party objectives.
“The old people are not working and such people who are in the government and also in the party should remove them or leave them and suggest the name of some other person so that we can bring them forward and they work unitedly day and night for the party. That is why I requested and everyone agreed to it. Now all the senior people will work unitedly to strengthen the organization.”
The new structure, once finalized, will reflect a more streamlined, dedicated cadre focused on cohesive leadership. “The decision to dissolve the executive committee was taken yesterday. Everyone will sit together and discuss the matter and whatever suggestions there will be considered. Soon a new executive committee will be formed,” Singh assured.
This step signifies an important shift for the Himachal Pradesh Congress, highlighting its commitment to inclusivity and a strong organizational framework as it looks towards the future. (ANI)
