North 24 Parganas (West Bengal) [India], June 2 (ANI): As West Bengal police went to arrest an alleged accused in Saturday’s violence in Basirhat’s Sandeshkhali, the local women resisted and a scuffle broke out on Sunday.
The police had come to arrest BJP worker Sadhan Nandi.
BJP leader Amit Malviya said that these women have taken to the streets to fight against Mamata Banerjee’s anarchy.
As the police entered the village, the woman in the village stopped the police. The villagers claimed that the police were arresting innocent people in the name of arrest.
Taking to X Amit Malviya said, “After polling day, there is renewed attempt to intimidate the people of Sandeshkhali. These are visuals from Booth no 35, Sarberia, Sardeshkhali. WB Police along with TMC goons are threatening people. They said, post 4th June, they will make all the women widows. BJP leadership is currently on the spot. Just watch how women of Sandeshkhali are pushing back, fighting back and revolting against Mamata Banerjee’s anarchy.”
He further wrote that this is a sign of a new beginning in Bengal.
“The fight against injustice that the world should sit up and take note. Mamata Banerjee’s police cannot defeat Durga Swaroopa Naari Shakti. In the video, you can hear a police officer (better called TMC’s foot soldier) saying, hey, I’ve got the stick. The stick with which you want to hit the common people, you won’t understand the pain! You can understand why these women today have taken the road to save their honour,” he further said.
Earlier, an alleged clash broke out between Trinamool Congress and BJP workers at Bayarbari in West Bengal’s Basirhat amid the seventh and final phase of polling in the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.
BJP candidate from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat Rekha Patra said, “If you (police) want to raise your hands on me, then do so. You are the police (administration), but you should be ashamed that you are slaves of the Chief Minister… The Chief Minister has bought you… The police are slaves of the Chief Minister, they (police) will not give any answer.”
The voting for the seventh and final phase was concluded in West Bengal’s nine seats, including Barasat, Basirhat, Diamond Harbour, Dum Dum, Jaynagar, Jadavpur, Kolkata Dakshin, Kolkata Uttar, and Mathurapur.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
