Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 14 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections.
Referring to the upcoming by-elections and the recent Bahraich violence in which one person was killed when two communities clashed while Goddess Durga idol immersion, Akhilesh Yadav said that the ‘worsening’ of communal atmosphere is not a coincidence.
“The coming of elections and the worsening of the communal atmosphere is not a coincidence. The public understands everything. Everyone knows whose old strategy is to resort to violence out of fear of defeat. This is the knock of the by-elections.” Akhilesh Yadav wrote on X.
“If the government makes real, solid arrangements instead of superficial law and order, everything will be fine, but this will happen only if the government wants it to,” he added
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav, criticising the Uttar Pradesh government, over the Baraich incident, said, “
“What happened is unfortunate. The administration, government and media know why it happened. Government should do justice. When the procession began, administration should have taken note of its route, adequate security on the route, adequate Police deployment. If I tell you what was being played on those loudspeakers, then government will say something else. But the Administration should have at least taken note of what was being played (on loudspeakers), are they insulting anyone?” he said.
Blaming the government and administration for the incident, Akhilesh Yadav accused BJP of “spreading hatred and dividing society.”
“The entire responsibility was that of Administration and Government. Due to the Administration’s negligence, such a major incident occurred…Government, Administration and their vote bank politics are responsible for what is happening in Bahraich and elsewhere. They are doing this deliberately…I appeal to the people to understand the tactic of BJP, they want to get political benefit by spreading hatred and dividing society.” Yadav said.
On Sunday, One person was killed while several others were injured after a clash erupted between two communities during Durga idol immersion procession in the Mahasi area in Bahraich.
According to the police, the procession was passing by a Muslim area when the two groups argued on some issues.
