Brahmapur (Odisha) [India], September 15 (ANI): After Prime Minister Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat trains on Sunday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took a ride on the Brahmapur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express and also interacted with the students.
He said, “The PM inaugurated three Vande Bharat trains for Odisha today. It was my suggestion that this train from Brahmapur to Tatanagar should be started. This will increase tourism and economic activity in the region. I am very happy to interact with the children today.”
150 students of the East Coast Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School, Khurda, boarded the train to take a free ride to the Khurda Junction during its inaugural run.
Priyanka Sahoo, a student of Class 10th said that this was her first time in a Vande Bharat train and she was feeling good about travelling in the train.
“I am feeling very nice about travelling in the Vande Bharat train. The Prime Minister will be inaugurating the train. Everything is clean on the train, there are cameras and food service. We are excited,” she said.
“The Vande Bharat trains are very clean, and the washrooms in this train are very good. We are very happy with all the services provided,” said another girl.
Meanwhile, six more Vande Bharat trains entered the Indian Railways fleet on Sunday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the trains from Tatanagar in Jharkhand.
The trains will improve the connectivity on Tatanagar – Patna, Bhagalpur – Dumka – Howrah, Brahmapur – Tatanagar, Gaya – Howrah, Deoghar -Varanasi, and Rourkela – Howrah routes.
These trains will boost religious tourism in the region by providing faster mode of commute to the pilgrimage sites like Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar (Jharkhand), Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Kalighat, Belur Math in Kolkata (West Bengal) etc.
Apart from this, coal mine industries in Dhanbad, jute industries in Kolkata, and iron and Steel allied industries in Durgapur will also get a major boost.
PM Modi also laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various railway Projects worth more than Rs 660 crores.
As an excellent example of the ‘Make in India’ success story, the Indian Railways launched India’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train, the Vande Bharat Express.
The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on February 15, 2019, on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route, running at a speed of 160 kilometres per hour. (ANI)
