Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 11 (ANI): After a court in Uttar Pradesh issued a non-bailable warrant against Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA Bedi Ram, Congress Spokesperson Surendra Rajput on Thursday hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government and asked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath when the accused legislators will be arrested in the 2006 railway paper leak case.
Bedi Ram is a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), headed by Om Prakash Rajbhar.
Speaking with ANI, Surendra Rajput Congress spokesperson targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and said, “The court has given the arrest order but it is to be seen when Bedi Ram will be arrested under the administration headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Both the leaders are integral parts of the government, Om Prakash Rajbhar had clearly said that you fill the job paper, Bedi Ram will do the rest of the arrangement.”
“Now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has to decide whether he will keep such criminals and accused people in his cabinet or throw them out. If the Bharatiya Janata Party of Uttar Pradesh is completely transparent and does not come under the pressure of the Centre, then Rajbhar’s party should be separated from NDA. In case, if this doesn’t happen, then it will be anticipated that the government of CM Yogi Adityanath is also involved in the paper leak,” said Rajput.
Speaking about the Supreme Court’s hearing in the NEET-UG case, Rajput asserted, “We have a lot of expectations from the Supreme Court, because CBI, ED or the government of India is involved in a scam of thousands of crores of rupees of NEET exam. We hope that the Supreme Court will do justice to those thousands of children who are eligible and they will appear in NEET. But CBI or the Government of India or the special committee that has been formed, all these people are not doing their work honestly and form this, it is clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to save the criminals.”
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing for July 18 a batch of petitions alleging paper leakage and malpractices in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, held on May 5.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra adjourned the hearing for next Thursday to enable the petitioners to file their responses to the affidavits filed by the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) yesterday.
It noted in the order that some of the parties in the case haven’t received the affidavits filed by the Centre and NTA and they need to prepare their responses before arguments.
On July 11, the Central government filed an affidavit in the case denying any mass malpractice in the NEET-UG 2024 exam.
In the affidavit, the Centre said the data analytics done by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras shows that there is neither any indication of mass malpractice nor a localised set of candidates being benefitted leading to abnormal scores. (ANI)
