Raniganj (West Bengal) [India], September 17 (ANI): West Bengal State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has alleged that leaders from Trinamool Congress (TMC) are helping coal and iron smugglers run their syndicate in the State’s Raniganj area.
The BJP leader was addressing a gathering of supporters in Raniganj on Saturday.
Majumdar also said that weapons and explosives have been recovered by the central agencies at various places in the State, and it showed the “level of crime, corruption and violence that exists within the state.”
“These explosives and weapons have not been recovered by the state police, but they have been recovered by the central investigation agencies. The situation shows how people are forced to live under the shadow of terror,” BJP Bengal chief asserted.
Majumdar who is also an MP from Balurghat said that the people of Bengal need to decide whether they want Rs 500 under the state government’s Lakshmi Bhandar scheme or want to live a secure life. “The situation in Bengal is such that the public representatives are not safe here then how can we expect the safety of the people under TMC’s rule?” he added.
“More than anything, Raniganj is famous for coal and iron smuggling, and the reason for this corruption in the area is because of the support of the TMC leaders,” he alleged.
“The coal smuggling syndicate running in Raniganj and Asansol is under the patronage of TMC leaders. These illegal activities will not last long, and people involved in such corruption will surely go to jail,” he added.
“These people have now become so powerful in the area and have accumulated so much wealth that now they possess expensive cars, and houses like TMC Ministers, and all of this has happened with the support of TMC leaders. But I want to tell them that all this activity will stop the day the BJP comes to power. In the upcoming Lok Sabha election, we are going to register a massive victory in West Bengal too,” the BJP MP said.
Earlier on Friday, the BJP’s Bengal chief lashed out at chief minister Mamata Banerjee for being part of the opposition INDIA alliance which recently released the names of journalists to be boycotted.
The “I.N.D.I alliance has released a list of journalists that are to be targeted by them. Just like TMC does in WB, they have adopted a similar approach at the national level. TMC is part of this alliance and has endorsed it. This is very shameful. More power to these journalists,” he wrote on X. (ANI)
