Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 19 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday said that the way Rajnath Singh spoke greatly about Karunanidhi and praised him, even leaders from DMK couldn’t speak it.
Hitting out at the leader of the opposition Edapaddi Palaniswami who alleged that Stalin didn’t invite his ally Rahul Gandhi to the event, Stalin said that the event was organised by the central government and it wasn’t a DMK programme.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said, “Yesterday Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked to visit the Karunanidhi memorial. He came to the hall and asked everyone to stand and give a standing ovation. I didn’t sleep yesterday due to overwhelming happiness. Rajnath Singh spoke greatly about our leader Karunanidhi in such a way that even our DMK men would not…Edappadi Palaniswami has asked why Rahul Gandhi was not called for yesterday’s centenary celebration of Karunanidhi, he should know that this is not organised by DMK but it’s a union government programme…”
Earlier on August 18, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that despite being from different political backgrounds, Rajnath Singh was his first choice to release the commemorative 100-rupee coin to mark the birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi.
He also expressed his gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for gracing the occasion.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said, “A 100-rupee Commemorative coin has been released for Centenary leader Kalaingar. I also thank PM Modi for his support, thanking Rajnath Singh for gracing this occasion. Rajnath Singh was my first choice for this event. Although we have different political backgrounds Rajnath Singh has maintained positive relations with a different political background.”
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday released a commemorative coin to mark the birth centenary of former five-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar M Karunanidhi in Chennai and termed him as one of the most revered leaders of the country, a titan of Indian politics, an able administrator, an advocate for social justice, and a cultural stalwart.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Union MoS L Murugan along with other leaders and officials were also present at the event. (ANI)
