New Delhi [India], July 6 (ANI): Citing Model Code of Conduct violations, the Bharatiya Janata Party has raised a complaint against the Aam Aadmi Party for releasing the dreaded gangster Daljeet Bhana on parole ahead of the Jalandhar West Constituency by-elections.
In a letter to the Election Commission of India, the BJP stated that the dreaded gangster Daljeet Bhana, who is out on parole, is campaigning for the AAP and spreading fear among the voters.
“It came to the knowledge, that during the bye-election process of AC Jalandhar west, the ruling AAP Govt. of Punjab has released, one dreaded gangster, Daljeet Bhana, on parole, in violation to MCC guidelines,” the letter stated.
“The said gangster is a resident of AC Jalandhar west and is involved in various murder cases. The said
gangster is now roaming freely in the area of AC Jalandhar west with the police officials and creating terror, which has led to a lot of panic amongst voters,” it added.
The letter further stated that the BJP workers also have apprehension that the gangster has been brought out to capture polling booths of the area.
Requesting the Election Commission to cancel parole of the gangster, the BJP, in the letter stated, “you are requested to take immediate action, his parole be cancelled to ensure the free & fair elections”.
Earlier, while addressing a Press conference on Thursday, Former chief minister and Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi accused the AAP of manipulating the Jalandhar West assembly by-election.
“The government has stooped to a new low and has brought in gangsters and notorious elements to intimidate the voters. A gangster Daljit Singh Bhana was given parole two days ago, and he is aggressively campaigning for the ruling party. There are apprehensions of booth capturing on the polling day by these anti-social elements. What is need of giving parole to dreaded gangster,” he said while addressing the Press conference.
The bye-election for the Jalandhar West Assembly seat is scheduled for July 10. (ANI)
