Roorkee (Uttarakhand) [India], October 3 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday paid humble tribute to Raja Vijay Singh, Senapati Kalyan Singh, and all the 152 martyrs who were martyred during the 1822-24 revolution in Kunja Bahadurpur (Roorkee) by attending the 200th Balidan Diwas.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that such a sacrifice given before the independence of the country is very inspiring and the coming generation should take inspiration from it, as well as remember that independence was achieved after a great struggle and sacrifice.

The Chief Minister said, “The government will make every effort to get this Balidani Sthal recognised as a national memorial and the sacrifice of the martyrs should get a place in the curriculum. With the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we are giving the place and respect to all the unsung great heroes, patriots, and martyrs of the nation that they deserve. The state government is also doing exemplary work for the honour and welfare of such brave soldiers and their families.”
The Chief Minister also praised the Shaheed Raja Vijay Singh Memorial and Kanya Shiksha Prasar Samiti and said that the committee is doing exemplary work to bring to light the context of the martyrs. During this event, he also released a book based on the lives of the martyrs who were martyred in 1822-24 at this place.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami paid his tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 155th birth anniversary. He also paid homage to the second Prime Minister of the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 120th birth anniversary.
In a post on X, Dhami said, “Tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, an epitome of truth and non-violence, and the second Prime Minister of the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri, a symbol of honesty and dedication, on their birth anniversary. The principles and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi have always been a source of inspiration for us. Based on truth and non-violence Mahatma Gandhi played a crucial role in building the nation, and even today his thoughts are inspiring for humanity.”
He further said that working on the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, the entire country is adopting the Atmanirbhar Bharat concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the entire country on the call of PM Modi is working on the vision of realisation of a clean, healthy, and prosperous India. (ANI)
