Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 22 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the cabinet’s decision to reserve 33 per cent of the posts of members of the management committee and chairperson in cooperative societies for women in the state is historic and represents a significant initiative by the state government to empower women.
“The cabinet’s decision to reserve 33 per cent of the posts of members of the management committee and chairperson in cooperative societies for women of the state is historic. This is a big initiative of the state government towards women’s empowerment,” said CM Dhami.
The Chief Minister said that respecting the ‘Matra Shakti’ has been our tradition, and our government is working with full commitment to women’s empowerment.
He said that along with the provision of 30 per cent reservation for women in government jobs, the state government has made many schemes, including Mukhyamantri Nari Empowerment Scheme, Lakhpati Didi Scheme and Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Scheme, which are making women empowered and self-reliant.
Earlier in the day, as many as 12 proposals were approved at the cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Secretariat, the first one after the Lok Sabha elections.
Proposals related to many departments, including urban development, housing, finance, revenue, personnel, planning and higher education, were taken up for discussion and then approved.
The reserved 33 per cent of the posts for women, the post of member and chairperson of the management committee of cooperative societies of Uttarakhand state, was approved by the Cabinet in the meeting.
Apart from this, the Cabinet included the reorganization of the postal structure of the Electrical Safety Department under the Energy and Alternative Energy Department.
The cabinet meeting also approved the proposal regarding the promulgation of the Uttarakhand Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority Bill, 2024.
Additionally, the decision was taken by the Cabinet regarding the adoption of the rules of the Personnel Department regarding centralized and decentralized service in the ministerial class cadre in various authorities of the state under the Housing Department and appointment of the appointing authority.
