Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 3 (ANI): Heavy rains in the city have led to severe waterlogging.
Visuals showed vehicles stuck on water logged roads and people facing difficulties in commuting from one place to another.
Navbharat, a student who has been facing issues going to school due to the severe waterlogging, said, “My home is right across the lane. It has been very difficult to even get transportation and go to school in this rain. There is excessive waterlogging everywhere. I had to take a holiday from school for the last two days due to the heavy rain.”
“The title of smart city has failed. If this is the condition of the city in half an hour of rain, then what will happen in two hours of rain? Water has gone inside the houses and people are not able to commute and reach their workplaces on time. It is just a smart city by name. The vehicles are also not able to move. This is a very bad situation,” said Prem.
Earlier, on June 30, due to heavy rainfall, people had to use boats to commute.
Visuals were seen where residents of the Bholenath colony used boats to navigate through the submerged area.
“The situation is quite bad here. We are using a boat to commute. The whole area is suffering from waterlogging. Even the boat came only yesterday. We have to travel in this water,” said Bablu, a resident of Bholenath Colony.
Additionally, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall along with occasional intense spells accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the areas of Uttar Pradesh, North Punjab, North and West Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bihar, North Orrisa and South Gangetic West Bengal.
