Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 27 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has made significant strides towards self-reliance.
He attended the 115th edition of PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at ISBT Dehradun, describing each episode of the broadcast as inspiring.
CM Dhami remarked, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is advancing rapidly towards self-reliance. Today, India is emerging as a strong, prosperous, and developed nation with a distinct identity on the global stage.”
The Chief Minister noted that the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of digital security in Mann Ki Baat. He urged everyone in the state to stay vigilant about digital safety, advising, “Do not act impulsively on unknown phone calls, and never share personal information with strangers.”
He added that people should report any suspicious calls to the cyber helpline or the police and keep relevant evidence. “Also, alert others about digital security,” CM Dhami advised.
Earlier, PM Modi cautioned the nation about the ‘digital arrest’ scam, stressing that no government agency intimidates people over the phone or demands money.
During the 115th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi explained the tactics used in the ‘digital arrest’ scam.
“In this scam, fraudsters impersonate officials from the police, CBI, RBI, or narcotics departments, speaking with great authority. People requested me to discuss this in Mann Ki Baat so that everyone understands the threat. The scam starts with collecting your personal details, followed by creating a sense of fear to cloud your judgement, and finally applying time pressure,” PM Modi said. “Victims of this scam come from all walks of life and age groups, many losing substantial amounts of their savings. If you receive such a call, do not panic. Remember, no investigative agency conducts interrogations via phone or video call. The three steps to digital security are: stop, think, and act. Take a screenshot or record the call if possible. No government agency makes threats or demands money over the phone.”
He added that investigative agencies, working in collaboration with state governments, are tackling the so-called ‘digital arrest’ scam.
“There is no legal concept of digital arrest; it’s pure fraud perpetrated by individuals with criminal intent. Various agencies, together with state governments, are working to curb this scam. The National Cyber Coordination Centre has been set up to enhance coordination among these agencies,” he said. (ANI)
