Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 3 (ANI): Independent MLA Ravi Rana on Monday claimed that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray would join the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that he would be seen alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi within 20 days of the swearing-in ceremony of the NDA-led BJP government at the Centre.
“The entire nation has supported PM Modi due to the work done by him. The country needs Modiji to take it forward and if there’s anyone who is taking forward the ideology of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray, it is Modiji. Modiji had said that for Uddhav Thackeray, one window will always be open. After PM Modi takes oath as the Prime Minister of the country, in next 20 days Uddhav Thackeray will enter from that window, and in the coming time he will be seen with Modiji,” Ravi Rana said on Monday.
Ravi Rana’s wife Navneet Rana, the sitting MP from Amravati, contested the Lok Sabha poll from the seat this time on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s ticket.
On Independent MLA Ravi Rana’s statement, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that anything is possible in politics.
“What Ravi Rana has said can turn out to be true in the time to come. It is essential too. Uddhav Thackeray was with the BJP for a very long time…Anything is possible in politics. If Uddhav Thackeray comes, he will be welcomed,” Athawale said.
In 2019, the undivided Shiv Sena was part of the BJP-led NDA alliance. The Uddhav Thackeray-led party is now part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), with the allies being the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Following this, in June 2022, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, along with 40 other MLAs, revolted against the party’s leadership and jumped ship to the BJP, leading to the collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government.
In 2023, the NCP also suffered a split when prominent leaders like Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal joined hands with the ruling BJP in the state.
