Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 10 (ANI): Two women (the main accused and her friend) were arrested for allegedly blackmailing a trader and threatening him to implicate in a false rape case in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, a police official said.
The women, identified as Priyanka and her friend Sonam Soni, along with their companions clicked obscene pictures of the trader and looted cash, a gold chain, two gold rings and a locket from him. They also threatened to file a case against him if he dared to tell anyone about the incident, the officer added.
The incident occurred on June 7 and the victim was quite scared. When he narrated the story to his family and got support from them, he complained to the Janak Ganj police station in the district on Sunday (June 9).
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Niranjan Sharma told ANI, “A trader has complained to Janak Ganj police station that he runs a business in Dal Bazaar in the city. A woman from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh used to come to Dal Bazaar in connection with business and met him once or twice. Later, both of them exchanged their mobile numbers and started talking to each other.”
On the day of the incident, the woman called the businessman and said that she had come to Gwalior and was staying in Samadhiya Colony. She invited the trader to meet her. The trader went to meet the woman alone in Samadhiya Colony. The woman was staying at one of her friends’ rented house, the officer said.
“When the trader met the woman at the said place, they got into an objectionable situation in the room, three other companions (Rajveer, Pappu and Jitendra Sharma) of the accused woman came into the room, took photos and videos of the businessman. They threatened the trader that they would implicate him in a rape case and he would be imprisoned for life,” ASP Sharma said.
The officer further added that the businessman got scared and the accused searched him and took off Rs 3500 cash, an ATM card, a gold chain, two gold rings and a locket from him. The trader was threatened that if he told anyone about the incident, a rape case would be registered against him.
“The businessman told the entire story to his family, after which he complained to Janak Ganj police station. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and began a probe into the matter. The police also arrested both the women (the main accused and her friend) in the matter and efforts were on to nab the remaining accused soon,” ASP Sharma added.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added. (ANI)
