Gandinagar (Gujarat) [India], October 8 (ANI): Two students from Manipur, mentored by Assam rifles, participated in multiple events for World Mental Health Week organised at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gujarat, the Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (East) said on Tuesday.
The five-day program started on October 6 in observance of World Mental Health Week Health.
Assam Rifles (East) said that the events are designed to address the challenges faced by children growing up in conflict.
“During the five-day program at Rashtriya Raksha University, participants will engage in various interactive sessions, workshops, and counselling sessions aimed at development of mental health. The curriculum is designed to address the unique challenges faced by students growing up in conflict zones, with a focus on resilience-building, emotional intelligence, and peer support,” read the statement by the IGAR (East)
The statement further elaborated that the event is meant to highlight the role of Assam Rifles in deradicalising young people in conflict-hit Manipur.
Reiterating their commitment to maintain peace and security in the north eastern region, the statement read, “Assam Rifles remains committed to not only maintaining peace and security in the northeastern region but also empowering its people through educational, health, and community outreach programs.”
Violence erupted in the northeastern state on May 3 last year following clashes during a rally organised by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the demand for the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category. (ANI)
