New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): Delhi police arrested a truck driver on Sunday for allegedly killing the helper of another truck.
Meanwhile, the police officials also recovered and seized the alleged truck involved in the accident.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Arun (22), hailing from the village of Baroliya, in the limits of Lakhora police station in the Mainpuri District of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, information regarding the accident of a truck helper by an unknown speeding truck in front of the PWD office, on the Ring Road near Bhikaji Cama Place, was received at the police station of R.K. Puram, Delhi on June 15, at around 11.30 pm.
The injured was immediately shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Tribhuvan (48) who hailed from Naseerpur village of Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
A case was registered in this regard at the RK Puram Police Station on the same day of the incident.
The police team minutely inspected the scene of the crime and tried to find eyewitnesses of the incident. They found an eyewitness who reported that the deceased was hit by a truck travelling at high speed towards Dhaula Kuan on Ring Road.
The team reviewed CCTV footage from Ring Road and adjacent residential complexes up to Dhaula Kuan and narrowed it down to over a dozen trucks.
Thereafter, the suspected truck drivers were interrogated and the mechanical inspections of their trucks were carried out.
Based on minute evidence collected during the mechanical inspection of a truck, the driver Arun Kumar was interrogated.
Initially, he tried to mislead the team but finally admitted that he had committed the accident and fled to evade arrest.
Accordingly, accused Arun Kumar was arrested and the truck was seized. (ANI)
