The District Magistrate and collector process the application and if required a hearing is called. Later, the cards are issued to the eligible applicants. As per the official records are concerned, till now 25 such cards have been issued and more than 50 such applications are under process,” he explained.
He further said that an umbrella scheme of SMILE has been launched by Govt Of India to give benefits to transgender communities.
Stating that the scheme SMILE is providing an umbrella of benefits to the transgender people, he said, “Under the umbrella scheme SMILE, free operation facilities are granted to the transgender people. Applications for that are submitted online. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the nodal department.”
