Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 3 (ANI): In a bid to prevent any untoward incidents during the upcoming Rath Yatra and Ulta Rath Yatra on July 7 and 15, the Tripura government is taking utmost precautionary measures.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, along with Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, on Wednesday presided over a crucial meeting via video conference with the district magistrates and senior officials from all districts of the state.
The Chief Minister called upon all organizers and the general public to cooperate with the administration to ensure the Rath Yatra festival is conducted in an orderly manner.
Manik Saha also took to his official X handle and said, “The state administration is taking utmost precautions to avoid any untoward incident on the holy Rath Yatra and Ulta Rath Yatra to be held on July 7 and 15.”
He added further, “In this regard today, through video conferencing, I will preside over an important meeting with the district magistrates and high-ranking officials of all the districts of the state and give necessary instructions.”
“Along with the administration, I am calling on all the entrepreneurs and public to complete this holy festival of Mahaprabhu in an orderly manner,” the CM added.
The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot festival, is believed to be as old as the Jagannath Temple in Puri.
The festival, celebrated with great fanfare from New Zealand to London and South Africa encompasses the onward journey of the Holy Trinity to their maternal aunt, Goddess Gundicha Devi’s Temple and culminates with the return journey after eight days.
In reality, the festival stretches from the day of Akshaya Tritiya (in April) and culminates with the return of the journey of the Holy Trinity to the Shree Mandir premises. (ANI)
