Agartala (Assam) [India] August 15 (ANI): On the occasion of Independence Day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha hoisted the national flag at his residence in Agartala Tripura on Thursday.
CM Manik Shah remembered the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.
CM Shah said, “We celebrated the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the state… We remembered and honoured all those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the country”
CM also congratulated the Police and Home Guard personnel from Tripura, who received the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service. He congratulated the personnel in a Facebook post.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamal Krishna Alai, Subedar, Kshirod Debbarma, Havildar Nihar Debbarma, Constable Sujan Kanti Chowdhury, Naik Nirmal Das, Constable Jayanti Chakraborty, and Home Guard Naba Kumar Sarkar from Tripura received President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.
In his message, the Tripura CM said, “We got the freedom following selfless Sacrifices & contributions of countless Patriots. Today, we are celebrating the glorious 78th year of Independence when India stands as a shining name globally for progress & prosperity. At the state-level Independence Day event held at Assam Rifles Ground, hoisted the National Flag, paid my homage to all the brave Freedom Fighters & inspected the beautiful Parade.”
During the Independence Day celebrations, a cultural program was also conducted at the Assam Rifles ground, Agartala. The colourful cultural event organized by the School Education department reflected the true spirit of patriotism. The event featured a dance drama promoting drug-free Tripura, mesmerizing dance performances showcasing the state’s rich Janajati culture & a wonderful yoga session.
Earlier in the day the Tripura CM extended his wishes to the people on Independence Day, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the fearless freedom fighters who laid down their lives for our nation’s liberty, and to the brave soldiers who continue to safeguard our country’s sovereignty. Their sacrifices will forever be etched in our hearts. Let’s celebrate the spirit of freedom and unity.” (ANI)
