New Delhi [India], June 3 (ANI): With barely a day left for the Lok Sabha poll results, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday launched a sharp attack at the Congress over the latter’s remarks on the Election Commission of India.
BJP leader Naqvi, while speaking to ANI, said, “Tumhare pair ke neeche koi zameen nahin, kamaal hai ki fir bhi tumhein yakeen nahin. They can feel the ground slipping under their feet.”
“They talk about their alliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has become successful in making the country realise that it will progress on the path of good governance under his leadership. The INDI-Alliance, on the one hand, are wrestling among themselves in Kerala and on the other hand, joining hands in Delhi. They were fighting in Punjab while embracing each other in Delhi. Now they claim that they would cross 295 seats in the Lok Sabha polls,” he added.
Earlier, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, through a post on his social media handle, alleged that calls had been made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to 150 District Magistrates just days before the scheduled counting of votes (June 4).
The ECI, in response to this, sought factual information and documents from Ramesh in support of his claim. Later, while addressing the media here in the national capital, the Congress leader said that the Election Commission is a constitutional body and that it needs to be neutral.
“…The Election Commission is a constitutional body, it needs to be neutral. People are watching, not only the parties and candidates but also the Election Commission. But, the way the Election Commission has functioned till now, we can’t trust it. Since it’s a constitutional body, we respect it as it has dignity…” he said.
Moreover, the exit polls on Sunday predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the LS polls. The exit polls predicted that the ruling BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance over its 2019 record when it won 352 seats. Two polls predicted the BJP also improving its numbers from the 303 seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
While the BJP leaders rejoiced about the poll predictions, several INDIA bloc leaders rubbished the same and expressed confidence that it would secure over 295 seats in the polls.
If the exit poll predictions come true on June 4 when votes are counted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will become the only PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three successive terms in Lok Sabha polls. The exit polls predicted ‘Modi 3.0’ with PM Modi having led the BJP’s poll effort through rallies and roadshows in various parts of the country. (ANI)
