Karimnagar (Telangana) [India], July 3 (ANI): Karimnagar police on Wednesday registered a case against BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy under the BNS Act.
The MLA from the Huzurabad constituency of Telangana was protesting on Tuesday, demanding the suspension of the District Education Officer (DEO) in the Zilla Parishad meeting.
According to the police, the MLA’s behaviour prompted the ZP CEO to file a complaint against him. The police registered a case under BNS Section 221, 126 (2).
“The MLA’s behaviour during the Zilla Parishad meeting yesterday prompted the ZP CEO to file a complaint against him. We have registered the case under Section BNS 221, 126,” said ACP Karimnagar Narender.
During the Zilla Parishad meeting, MLA Kaushik Reddy demanded the suspension of the District Education Officer (DEO) for issuing notices to Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) regarding an education review meeting conducted by Reddy about the schools in the Huzurabad constituency, which the MEOs attended.
He further argued that, as an MLA, he has the right to review school performance and that the DEO’s actions are a violation of his rights. Kaushik Reddy also stated that he would take the matter to court.
“As a legislator, I conducted a review meeting on the performance of schools in Huzurabad constituency. The DEO asked the MEOs how they could go to such meetings. A notice has been issued to the MEOs regarding this matter. DEO has no right to give such notice. DEO’s retirement is near. I will definitely go to court regarding this matter. It comes down to a violation of my rights,” Reddy said in a social media post in X.
Reddy further demanded an answer from the District Collector on this matter in his post.
Members of the BRS party present at the Zilla Parishad meeting also stood up and displayed placards, raising slogans to suspend DEO. (ANI)
