Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 1 (ANI): Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra claims that the Karnataka deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara had made a “clear stand” on them seeking the resignation of the current Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah amid the allegation surrounding the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allocation scam.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Vijayendra said that DK Shivakumar and a couple of other party leaders were the “Chief Ministers in Waiting.”
He asserted that the Congress high command had already taken the decision to ask Siddaramaiah to resign from his position as the state CM.
“DK Shivakumar and a couple of other senior leaders within the Congress party are the Chief Ministers in waiting. In yesterday’s discussion between DK Shivakumar and G. Parameshwara, they have taken a clear stand that they should seek the resignation of the Chief Minister. I am told that the Congress high command has already taken this decision,” he said.
He also came down heavily at the CM and his family, stating that the allegations against them would not wash out despite surrendering the plots in the MUDA case.
This came following the letter written by Siddaramaiah’s wife to the MUDA Commissioner, offering to surrender the 14 plots that were allotted to her by the authority.
Vijayendra also called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation.
“Just because they have decided to surrender the sites does not mean that all allegations against CM Siddaramaiah and his family will wash out. He is bound to face the investigation and should cooperate. Being him the CM, there can’t be a fair investigation so we demand his resignation,” he said.
Earlier today, Karnataka Law Minister HK Patil came down heavily at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allocation case and said that ED’s case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against CM Siddaramaiah would be one of the greatest blunders that the probing agency would be doing.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara also criticised the involvement of the ED in the MUDA land allocation case and questioned the registration of a case under the PMLA despite the absence of any “financial transactions.”
On Monday, after the ED booked the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah for money laundering in a case linked to the allgeded MUDA land allotment scam, his wife wrote to the MUDA Commissioner and offered to surrender the 14 plots that were allotted to her by the authority.
Meanwhile, the Mysuru Lokayukta officially started the inquiry and investigation into the case linked to the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam today, following a September 27 court order to file a FIR, directing them to conduct an investigation against Siddaramaiah on the allegation of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife Parvathi by the MUDA.
