Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 26 (ANI): Special Inspector General of Police (Cyber Crimes department, government of Maharashtra) Yashasvi Yadav said on Friday that a slanderous campaign was being run and doubts were raised against Lok Sabha Speaker’s daughter Anjali Birla joining UPSC through some non-meritorious means.
“Madam Anjali Birla was, is an IRPS officer. She was being subjected to a slanderous campaign, a malafide campaign without any evidence. Doubts were raised against her joining UPSC through non-meritorious means, through some kind of help from some extraneous channels. But these reports were…these so-called comments were found to be baseless,” IG Yadav told ANI.
He was responding to the status of defamatory posts against Lok Sabha Speaker’s daughter Anjali Birla on her UPSC qualification.
“And hence, seven or eight accounts were identified. Twitter accounts and Instagram accounts were such slanderous and malafide campaigns were being run. Accordingly, a First Information Report has been registered by the Maharashtra cyber department. These so-called account holders have been summoned, “IG Yadav added.
He further said, “One or two of them have already reported to the Maharashtra cyber department. One of the main account holders called Dhruv Rathee paradoy account. That person has tendered a public apology and deleted all his comments. And soon he will also be summoned to the Maharashtra cyber department”.
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed Google Inc. and X Corp (formerly known as Twitter) to remove posts or content that falsely allege that Om Birla’s daughter, Anjali Birla, passed UPSC exams on her first attempt due to her father’s influence.
The bench of Justice Navin Chawla issued an interim order directing the removal of the mentioned posts/content within 24 hours. Additionally, the court has restrained unidentified defendants from making any defamatory allegations in relation to the matter.
