New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal named Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj during the interrogation by the ED on Delhi excise policy scam, BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva suspected an internal strife between the AAP leaders and stated that Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi are aiming for the Chief ministerial post in Delhi.
Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva, while speaking to ANI said, “We are not after the CM post. Saurabh Bharadwaj, Atishi and their other leaders wanted to become CM. Kejriwal yesterday named them during the interrogation. Atishi named Raghav Chhadha and Durgesh also. They will fight among themselves in the future”.
On the INDIA bloc’s mega rally in Delhi, Sachdeva said that it holds no importance as the public of India stands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The chairs during their address in the mega rally were empty. They all are corrupt, nobody wants to listen to their speeches. 140 crore Indians are backing Prime Minister Modi. The fate of these corrupt politicians will be decided by the public,” Sachdeva said.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate apprised the court on Monday that during the recording of a statement in custody, Arvind Kejriwal stated that his interaction with former communication-in-charge of the AAP, Vijay Nair, was limited as he only reported to party leaders Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj.
Nair was among the first people to be arrested by the CBI in the case, in 2022. Subsequently, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were arrested in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi, on Tuesday claimed that she was approached by the Bharatiya Janata Party to join them or else she’d be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the coming days.
While addressing a press conference in Delhi, the AAP leader said, “The BJP, through one of my close aides, approached me to join their party to save my political career, and if I do not join the BJP, then in the coming month, I will be arrested by the ED.”
The Rouse Avenue Court on Monday sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15 in an alleged money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy case.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped.
While Kejriwal was not named in the FIRs registered by the ED or the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Delhi excise policy case, his name first found a mention in the ED’s chargesheet, wherein the agency claimed that he allegedly spoke to one of the main accused, Sameer Mahendru, in a video call and asked him to continue working with co-accused and AAP communications-in-charge Vijay Nair.
