Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 7 (ANI): Avinash Pande, Congress General Secretary and In-Charge of Uttar Pradesh, said that the impact of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is evident in both Uttar Pradesh and the nation at large as the people gave their blessing to the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha polls.
“After the yatra, the citizens of the country became stronger to think about politics from a new perspective. With this new perspective, the people believed the words of Rahul Gandhi and protected the Constitution and the democracy of the country. They have brought a change in Indian politics,” Pande said referring to the increase in the party’s tally as compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha results.
The BJP won 240 seats in Lok Sabha polls, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark.
Pande attributed the poll resullts to the political change in the nation and the state to Gandhi’s yatra.
He said, “The change that is visible in Uttar Pradesh and the country is the effect of our leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. The people of the country gave their blessings after seeing the hard work of Rahul Gandhi.”
Avinash Pande on Friday while addressing a press conference informed that they had held a meeting with the senior officials.
“Our national president Mallikarjun Kharge and our leader, Rahul Gandhi had called a meeting of all the affiliates of our organisation,” Pande said.
In his address, Pande also thanked the citizens of the nation for bringing a change in the country with their political thinking.
Reiterating the Congress and INDIA alliance’s commitment to fight for the people, Pande said, “Even if our government is not formed at the Centre, but we, as a strong opposition, will work for the people’s issues. We will fight for the farmers, we will fight for the youth of the nation and see how we can help on getting them better employment opportunities. We will work for our mothers and sisters. We will work on all the problems that have worsened.”
The Congress General Secretary also informed that the senior leaders will discuss the strategies for the future very soon.
“From June 11 to 15, we will go to every assembly and conduct a Thanksgiving Yatra. As per the orders of our leader Rahul Gandhi, we will go to all the assemblies and thank the people for their blessings in the Lok Sabha and seek their blessings for the future.”
Notably, the INDIA alliance partner Samajwadi Party emerged as the biggest party in Uttar Pradesh and secured 37 seats. BJP, on the other hand, won 33 seats. Congress won six seats.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take oath for third successive term in office on June 9, sources said.
BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a successive third term in office in the results of Lok Sabha elections declared on June 4.
Sources said PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony may take place at 6 pm on June 9.
Earlier there was speculation that the swearing-in ceremony of the new NDA government led by PM Modi would take place on Saturday.
There is no official confirmation yet of the date of the oath-taking ceremony. Leaders of parties in the National Democratic Alliance held a meeting on Wednesday and elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader.
PM Modi later said that NDA will work towards building a developed India.”Met our valued NDA partners. Ours is an alliance that will further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations. We will serve the 140 crore people of India and work towards building a Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi said in a tweet on Wednesday.
