Amritsar (Punjab) [India], June 22 (ANI): The Amritsar police busted a narcotics nexus and arrested three people who were working on the instructions of a United States-based smuggler.
Taking to its official X handle, the DGP Punjab Police posted, “Amritsar Rural Police in close coordination with central agencies has busted Narcotics-Organised Crime nexus by arresting three associates working on the directions of USA-based smuggler Bhola Havelian (brother of Ranjit Cheeta).”
Ranjit Cheeta was the mastermind behind the smuggling of 532 packets of heroin, which were seized by the Customs Department at ICP Attari in July 2019.
Giving details about the recovery, the DGP Punjab Police further said, “Six pistols and 10 magazines were recovered. “FIR under the Arms Act registered at Police Station Ajnala and investigations are ongoing to establish backward and forward linkages.
“Punjab Police will take stern action against all involved in organised crime and illegal weapon smuggling networks,” DGP Punjab Police added.
On June 20, the DGP Punjab Police took to its official X handle and informed about the trans-border illegal arms and narco-terrorism hawala racket.
It said, “In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busts a trans-border illegal arm and narco-terrorism hawala racket with the arrest of eight accused.”
Informing about the recovery, it said, “4.1 kg Heroin, three pistols, 45 live cartridges, Rs 2.07 lakh drug money and seven vehicles were recovered.”
It added further, “FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) has been registered and investigation on-going to establish backward and forward linkages.” (ANI)
