Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 25 (ANI): During an event jointly organised by The National Commission for Women and The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi raised awareness regarding the threats social media platforms pose for women and also highlighted the ways to ensure justice for the female victim in society.
“Many incidents keep happening on social media. Our sisters need to be careful while using social media. Social media is an easy way for a stranger to reach you. Do not share any of your personal information with any stranger. If a woman becomes a victim, she hesitates to register a complaint with the police due to fear of society, ” said Harsh Sanghavi.
“Women fall prey to social media traps. People victimise sisters and mothers using fake identities. I have witnessed so many such instances in which society makes a victim scared and she does not report and hide the matter. I request that as soon as such an incident happens, the victim must not be made fun of. That is why so many women do not go to the police station. We must try to create such an atmosphere that justice is ensured for women. That is how the society will transform,” Sanghavi added.
He further stated that Gujarat is a state where women get justice faster than any other state in the country. Fast track drive has been worked upon under the initiatives of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. Adding to that he said, “Rapists have been punished within just a few hours of the crime’s occurrence. The time has changed now. The way we are getting cooperation from the judiciary and the police, a large number of cases are getting solved. This is not a political issue but a personal one. Today, the lowest number of incidents happen in Gujarat but even those lesser numbers are not acceptable. Under the leadership of Modi ji, many initiatives have been taken to ensure better justice delivery to women.”

At the same event, NCW Chief Rekha Sharma also expressed her opinions and said that women are 50 per cent of the population and they must contribute 50 per cent to the GDP.
“We have decided to inspire women. We talked to many women and inspired them to become entrepreneurs. We organised such events in every state and the Union territory. Such initiatives won’t be stopped here but we will take them forward. As per the thinking of PM Modi, we will work on enhancing women’s capacity,” she added. (ANI)
