New Delhi [India], July 5 (ANI): Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the Harthras stampede case, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said on Friday that one shouldn’t see such incidents with ‘vulture eyes’ for their political benefits.
The development comes as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha today visited the families of the victims of the Hathras stampede and urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to fairly compensate the families.
Trivedi said that since Rahul Gandhi became the LoP, he has been doing politics of fear and confusion. He further added that it is very sad that he is doing politics over such a heart-wrenching accident as Hathras.
“Rahul Gandhi, since he has become the LoP, he is doing the politics of fear and confusion. Yesterday, we have seen how he lied on the Agniveer issue. Today, on this heart-wrenching accident of Hathras, the politics that he is trying to do is very sad. Such incidents should be seen with the utmost sensitivity,” he said.
Trivedi also questioned Rahul Gandhi about the hooch tragedy that took place in Tamil Nadu, where more than 50 people belonging to the SC community died due to alcohol poisoning and pointed out that neither he visited the victims nor spoke anything about it.
“I want to ask him that more than 50 people have died in Tamil Nadu, ruled by his friends in the INDI alliance; most of them were from the SC community. Leave aside going there, you haven’t even spoken about it…,” Trivedi said.
As many as 121 people lost their lives in the Hathras stampede incident on Tuesday, with six people getting arrested by the police later on.
UP CM Yogi Adidyanath announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the victims who lost their lives, along with Rs 50,000 for the people who got injured there. (ANI)
