Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 26 (ANI): Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday underscored the transformative growth of educational institutions across India, citing the establishment of numerous medical colleges and IITs to harness the potential of the country’s youth.
His remarks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation, where the PM described India’s youth as a “key factor in the development of the country.” The PM had also distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to people appointed under various government departments.
Speaking at the Rozgar Mela in Gwalior, where he distributed appointment letters to young recruits, Scindia praised the Prime Minister’s vision and the positive energy his speech had generated.
“This is an important day, the Prime Minister has given the people a new energy in his speech, a new hope has come. Our youth, around 51,236, are not just youth; new energy has been given. Along with ‘Athiti devo bhava’ (guest is god), there is also nagrik devo bhava (citizen is god),” Scindia said.
Scindia added that the Prime Minister had laid out clear national targets and India, under his leadership, is moving towards securing its rightful place on the global stage. “He (The PM) has compiled a list of targets to achieve, and under his leadership, India is leading too. India will rightfully get its position at the world stage. For that, every citizen has to sacrifice things too, and with that, hope this event was organised (Rozgar mela),” he said.
Earlier, while addressing the event, Scindia also highlighted the significant developments in the education sector over the past decade.
“Practical learning is now part of that education policy. There is a saying in English: not to teach you what to think, but to teach you how to think. There was no formal education policy. However, 10 years later, Educational institutions have reaped immense benefits. Approximately 350 and 90 universities have been established. Seven hundred new medical colleges have been opened, seventy-five thousand new medical seats have been introduced, and new IITS have been opened,” Scindia said.
“Look at the immense potential of institutions of education. Because if this is our power, then we have to make it promising. It must be kept healthy and educated so that the younger generation can move forward in serving the country. New energy should be given to the youth,” he said.
Earlier today, while distributing the letters virtually, he urged the newly appointed youth to work with honesty to support India’s progress toward becoming a “Viksit Bharat.”
“Today, letters of permanent government jobs have been given to more than 51 thousand youth in various departments of the Central Government. Today, new responsibilities of you youth have begun in different departments of the Government of India. Your responsibility is to strengthen the country’s economic system; your responsibility is to strengthen the country’s internal security; your responsibility is to build modern infrastructure in the country; your responsibility is to bring fundamental changes in the lives of labourers,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi also emphasised that when youth participate in nation-building, the nation develops rapidly and gains global recognition, noting that the government is focused on increasing employment and self-employment opportunities for youth. (ANI)
