Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 10 (ANI): Murasoli Selvam, former editor of ‘Murasoli’, the mouthpiece of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) passed away in Bengaluru due to health issues on Thursday morning. He was 82.
As per reports, mortal remains of Selvam, son-in-law of the late party patriarch M Karunanidhi, are to be taken to the former chief minister’s residence.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condoled the demise of Selvam and posted a heartfelt post on X, saying he lost the “last shoulder” to lean on.
“My dear brother Mursoli Selvam, who has been my brother-guide since childhood, giving me advice on operational tasks, presenting clear solutions in times of crisis, and standing shoulder to shoulder in my growth with the organization. After the departure of the Chief Artist, today I have lost that last shoulder to lean on – the pillar of principle,” posted MK Stalin.
Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai also expressed grief over Selvam’s demise and posted on X, “I am deeply saddened to know that Murasoli Selvam has passed away. My deepest condolences to TN CM MK Stalin and Selvam’s family members on behalf of Tamil Nadu BJP. I pray to God for his soul to rest in peace, Om Shanti.”
Selvam, also the brother of former Union Minister Murasoli Maran, is survived by his wife Selvi (Karunanidhi’s daughter) and their daughter.
Selvam remained the editor of ‘Murasoli’ until he stepped down due to his failing health.
The newspaper is now run by Udhayanidhi Stalin, Karunanidhi’s grandson and deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu. (ANI)
