New Delhi [India], October 11 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Jitu Patwari has demanded resignation of MP Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda accusing him of having connection with accused in recent MD drugs seizure worth Rs 1814 crores in Bhopal.
Patwari also said that a sting operation was conducted in which it was revealed that all kinds of drugs were easily available in Madhya Pradesh.
“What is the situation in Madhya Pradesh today? A sting operation was conducted in which it was revealed that all kinds of drugs are easily available in Madhya Pradesh. So it means that after Udta Punjab (referring to drug addiction), Madhya Pradesh is now becoming Udta MP. People around a responsible person (referring to dy CM Devda) are involved in it under his protection. So when the government did not take responsibility and didn’t take action, how is he in the post of Deputy Chief Minister?” Patwari told ANI.
“If the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi was addressing in Haryana, then did he not see Madhya Pradesh? Shouldn’t PM Modi take a decision that he will remove the Deputy Chief Minister immediately? Shouldn’t he send a message to the country that we are against drugs? If not, then it is natural that being a responsible opposition, we will say our point,” the Congress leader added.
He further alleged that the country was constantly moving towards the Udta Bharat (referring to drug addiction) in the last 10 years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the centre.
“There is a BJP government in Madhya Pradesh and a horrific situation is constantly developing here. Also, there has been a BJP government in the country for the last 10 years and the country is constantly moving towards Udta Bharat. So where there was talk of 2 crore jobs every year, now there are 2.5 crore new youths who have become drug addicts. So, PM Modi and BJP are guilty for it, right?” Patwari asked.
Earlier Dy CM Devda, however, responded to Congress party allegations regarding his connection with an accused in a drug seizure case after a photo of them together surfaced on social media.
Devda asserted that a criminal cannot be exonerated by merely being photographed with a public figure.
The Deputy CM clarified that many individuals take pictures with public and political figures, but such photographs do not provide any form of protection to criminals, and strict action should be taken against them.
Notably, earlier this week on Sunday, Gujarat ATS confiscated drugs and raw materials valued at Rs 1,814 crore the factory and apprehended two persons identified as Amit Chaturvedi, a resident of Bhopal and Sanyal Bane, a resident of Nashik.
Later on Monday, in coordination with the Mandsaur police, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested Harish Anjna from Mandsaur district, in connection with the MD drugs seized in Bhopal. (ANI)
