Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 8 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday offered prayers at the Hanumangarhi Temple in Ayodhya and said that the country is moving towards a golden India under the leadership of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi.
“I wanted to do Ram Lalla’s ‘darshan’ for many days… Today, I am happy to come here… I prayed that Modi Ji’s next term should be very well, Assam and the whole country should be very well… In the history of India, this is the first time that any prime minister will take the PM’s oath for the third time. This is historic… We are moving towards a golden India under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” Assam CM told ANI.
On the swearing-in ceremony of PM-designate Narendra Modi, Assam CM said this is a golden opportunity for our country.
“This is a golden opportunity for our country. I hope and pray that God gives strength to Narendra Modi…The moment we will witness tomorrow will be amazing in itself,” he said.
He further attacked Congress and said that Congress has no accountability and that even after 10 years they could not reach even 100.
“I had been in Congress, I would have held the Gandhi family accountable… Just to make sure that they are not answerable, some people are running propaganda and celebrating for a party that has lost,” he said.
On losing the Faizabad seat he said that there were 542 seats in which the party would win some and lose some seats.
“There are 542 seats, we will win some and lose some. So what is the issue?… Narendra Modi is going to be the Prime Minister for the third time with the blessings of Lord Ram,” he said.
BJP’s Lallu Singh lost the Faizabad seat to the Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad by a margin of over 54,000 votes.
The counting of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was held on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the Samajwadi Party (SP) won 37 seats, the BJP won 33, the Congress won 6, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) won 2, and Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) and Apna Dal (Soneylal) won 1 seat each in the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
In a major setback to the BJP, it gained only 33 seats against 63 in the 2019 LS polls, with the vote share being 41.37 per cent. Some of the most-watched seats which the BJP lost include — Faizabad, Amethi, and Raebareli.
The Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, secured 37 seats by itself, thus witnessing a massive improvement in the state. The vote share of the SP stood at 33.59 per cent.
The BJP victory tally was much lower than its 2019 tally of 303 and the 282 seats it had won in 2014. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats compared to 52 that it had won in 2019 and 44 seats in 2014. (ANI)
