New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): After the exit poll projections, which show that the Congress party is expected to form the government in Haryana, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda credited the party’s top leadership and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra for a strong comeback in the state after a decade.
Hooda claimed that the Congress would secure a significant majority in the state, ending the BJP’s rule.
“Congress is making a comeback (in North India). In Haryana, the people have elected Congress with a big majority and have ended the misrule of the BJP. The way our top leadership have worked hard, the day Rahul Gandhi came to Haryana during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, the mood of Haryana started to change in favour of Congress…Exit poll has given us direction and we will see it in the results. People have voted for a new start in Haryana.,” the Congress leader told ANI.
Taking a jibe at CM Nayab Singh Saini over his remark that the “BJP will form the government alone”, Hooda said that the leaders of the BJP are trained in such a way that they can say the biggest lies with self-confidence.
“This kind of confidence comes from the training of the BJP. The leaders of the BJP are trained in such a way that they can say the biggest lies with self-confidence. Nayab Saini should be concerned about his own constituency Ladwa,” he said.
When asked about the decision of who will become the Chief Minister if Congress wins the assembly elections, the party MP said that the party’s high command decides all these things.
“Congress party has its system and process (to select CM face) and it has been going on for decades, party high command decides all these things. Our aim was not the post but to bring a change and bring Congress party’s government. The way Rahul Gandhi has fought with truthfulness and honesty made a mood in favour of Congress in the entire country – it will convey a message to the entire North India,” he said.
“We remain there on the ground, all 365 days and hence we understand what is going to happen, last time also I said that the slogan of ’75 paar’ (of BJP) is nothing,” the Congress MP added.
Meanwhile, Saini on Sunday exuded confidence in forming a government “alone”, saying, they have “all the arrangements.”
“We will not need any kind of alliance; I have said from the very beginning that the BJP will form the government alone. We have all the arrangements. I am confident that BJP will alone form the government but if we need that (alliance) we will give it a thought; we have all the arrangements,” said CM Saini while addressing a press conference.
CM Saini said that the BJP will form the government with a full majority while the opposition will blame Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for this – ‘8 taarikh ko janta degi jawaab aur ye (Congress) kahenge EVM hai kharab’.
Earlier, the exit polls predicted a clean sweep for the Congress in Haryana, with some polls predicting the party will win more than 50 of the 90 seats in the assembly.
The TV-Today C voter projection said that the party may win 50-58 seats in the state, while it said that the BJP can win 20-28 seats. The other can win 10-16 seats. The majority mark to form the government in the 90-member assembly is 46.
According to the Republic TV-Matrize poll, the Congress Party may get 55-62 seats out of 90, while the BJP is poised to win18-24 seats.
People Pulse poll survey said that the Congress may get 44-54 seats, BJP 15-29 and others may win up to 4-9 seats.
Dainik Bhaskar in its poll survey suggested that the Congress will get 44-54 seats, BJP 15-29 and others may get 4-9.
As per the Dhruv Research polls survey, the Congress may get 50-64 seats, and BJP may win up to 22-32 seats in the state.
The single-phase polling for 90 Assembly Constituencies in Haryana concluded peacefully on Saturday across more than 20,000 polling stations and recorded a final voter turnout of 65.65 per cent.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), single-phase polling for General Elections to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana recorded an approximate voter turnout of 65.65 per cent as of 11:45 pm, which beats the Lok Sabha 2024 voter turnout of 64.8 per cent in the state. (ANI)
