New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha speech on Operation Sindoor, saying that although the Prime Minister spoke for about two hours, many questions were left unanswered.
Chaturvedi said, “…The PM spoke for about two hours, and he tried to address all the questions that were raised by the opposition. But there are many questions that have not been answered. For example, on Operation Sindoor, he very categorically said that it is ongoing. So if it is ongoing, the PM would need to ask his cabinet minister…why have we given a green flag to the Asia Cup matches and why is it so important that we face Pakistan in these Asia Cup matches?…”
On United States President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Chaturvedi said, “There has been no third-party mediation, and nobody has ever allowed that to happen, but considering that Donald Trump immediately after his (PM Modi) speech, within the gap of ten hours, he (Trump) has repeated it twice…so, we need to draw a line…”
Chaturvedi was not the only Congress leader to criticise the Prime Minister’s address.
Previously, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate alleged that Prime Minister Modi in his one hour-40-minute long address had failed to mention US President Donald Trump or China even once.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Shrinate said, “…PM Modi spoke for one hour and 42 minutes, in which he mentioned Nehruji 15 times, Congress 50 times, but he did not mention Donald Trump or China even once.”
Prime Minister Modi yesterday lambasted Congress during debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, alleging that the opposition party “continues to rely on Pakistan for political narratives”.
PM Modi also slammed Congress MP Praniti Shinde’s now-expunged remark in Lok Sabha.
“She was made to say that Operation Sindoor was a ‘tamasha’. This is like putting acid (on the wounds) of the 26 people killed by terrorists,” the PM said.
The Prime Minister said that the path to prosperity and peace passes through strength.
“I have said this earlier too that India is a land of ‘Buddha’, not yuddha (war). We want prosperity and peace. But we should never forget that the path to prosperity and peace passes through strength,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister addressed the floor on Tuesday, but during his speech, he did not answer the Opposition’s question regarding Trump’s claims of mediating the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The Opposition has continued to criticise the government for not responding to these concerns.
The discussion on Operation Sindoor that concluded in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday is set to continue in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. (ANI)
