New Delhi [India], July 8 (ANI): The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) mayor, Shelly Oberoi on Monday said that there are 250 Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) in Delhi and out of these, many have been eliminated.
Oberoi told ANI that the department will hold consecutive meetings tomorrow with the Public Health Department and Health Department.
“Today we had a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of the twelve zones and other senior officers. The main motive behind the meeting was to ensure cleanliness. We had a discussion regarding the Garbage Vulnerable Points. Currently, there are 215 Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) in Delhi. Out of these many GVPs have been eliminated and in some GVPs garbage is dumped within 24 hours,” she said.
“Tomorrow we have called a meeting with the public health department officials and on Wednesday, a meeting with the health department officials has been convened to ensure proper arrangements are made in hospitals and dispensaries in case the cases of dengue arise,” the MCD mayor added.
Earlier today, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj held a meeting with all the Delhi Hospital’s chiefs over preparations to combat Dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
The meeting was attended by the Medical Director (MD) and Medical Superintendent (MS) of all Delhi government hospitals.
On Friday, Saurabh Bharadwaj chaired a meeting, which was attended by the concerned departments of the Secretariat over preparedness to deal with Dengue.
“When the rainy season starts, the risk of dengue, chikungunya, and malaria increases. In such a situation, discussions are held with all the departments. We have sent instructions to DDA, MCD, PWD, NDMC, and the Health Department to ensure that water does not accumulate in their respective jurisdictions so that breeding does not occur. Hospitals have also been alerted to keep all the information related to dengue,” he said.

The health facilities and hospitals have been assigned a nodal officer to monitor and act to keep the premises Aedes mosquito-free.
