Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 27 (ANI): BJP RS MP Lahar Singh Siroya continues to stand by his claims on Congress national president Malliakarjun Kharge’s family over KIADB land. Siroya said that he has not made any allegations by himself but a local website shows that there have been illegal allotments to the family of Mallikarjun Kharge.
Notably, Siroya first raised the issue in a post on X and questioned the Kharge family’s eligibility to get KIADB land.
“I have not made any allegations; it is being done by someone else. He has complained to the Governor about illegal allotments (of land). There is a local website which shows that there have been illegal allotments to the family of Mallikarjun Kharge too,” said Siroya while talking to ANI.
“It shows that 5 acres of Aerospace Park have been allotted to Mallikarjun Kharge’s family…There are 2 issues, one is illegality and the other is about moral grounds…There is another question how only his family member is eligible to get the land and no one else…All of this is a matter of investigation,” he added further.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia sought Mallikarjun Kharge’s resignation over the issue saying Kharge “has moral responsibility and his family has been accused of this scam.”
In a press conference, Gaurav Bhatia said, “…Mallikarjun Kharge should resign immediately because he is the president, he has moral responsibility and his family has been accused of this scam. Secondly, Priyank Kharge has no right to remain in the minister’s post for even a second. Prima facie has misused his post, he should resign. Thirdly, Siddaramaiah, whether it is the MUDA scam, Valmiki Development Corporation scam and now this third scam, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, should vacate the chair immediately…”
However, Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and the Karnataka IT/BT and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge took on the BJP asking them to explain to people how the allotment of land is illegal.
“BJP can say what they want. But they have to tell the people how is it illegal and what is illegal. It is a CA (Civic Amenity) site. It is not an industrial plot. It’s an educational thing. The trust has been there for more than 2 decades and has been running educational institutions…”
The allegations against Kharge and his family come amidst the ongoing controversy over a land allotment scam involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has provided sanction to prosecute the CM over the disputed allocation of land under a Mysore Urban Development Authority scheme to his wife. (ANI)
