Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 30 (ANI): Pineapple farmers in Tripura have achieved a significant milestone with the dispatch of a record-breaking 30 metric tons (MT) of pineapples.
This landmark development, spearheaded by the Sheel Biotech Team in collaboration with the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA), marks a major step forward for the region’s agricultural sector.
This significant initiative was carried out in partnership with Thalaither Organic Producer Company Limited, located in Dhalai District, under the auspices of MOVCD-NER Phase III.
The pineapples, carefully packed and transported in refrigerated vehicles, embarked on their journey to Bengaluru. Notably, this operation marks the commencement of a regular schedule, with two refrigerated trucks set to make the trip every week, ensuring a consistent flow of produce to the market.
“This is the largest shipment of pineapples so far this year, underscoring the resilience and dedication of our pineapple farming community,” said a spokesperson from TSOFDA.
The initiative has injected a renewed sense of optimism among farmers, who view such shipments as a pivotal step towards enhancing their livelihoods.
Experts believe that such strategic measures will play a crucial role in fulfilling the government’s vision of doubling farmers’ income. The concerted efforts of Sheel Biotech Team and TSOFDA not only highlight their commitment to agricultural prosperity but also pave the way for sustainable growth in the region’s organic farming sector.
