Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 23 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday said Jharkhand’s public has played a big role in the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the centre. He also expressed confidence in the party’s win if the assembly elections are conducted today.
At a press conference, the Jharkhand Assembly election co-incharge spoke about the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections and stressed the party’s win on nine Lok Sabha seats which was synonymous to 52 assembly seats.
Speaking about the election results of Lok Sabha 2024 and the party’s preparations for upcoming assembly elections, Sarma asserted, “In the Lok Sabha elections, people gave nine seats to Modi Ji. I came here to express my thankfulness to the people of Jharkhand for this. Jharkhand’s public has contributed immensely in establishing Modi Ji’s government again in the country. If assembly elections are conducted today, the BJP can get 52 seats (out of 81) and form its government in the state. What more we can ask for the state’s public?”
Taking it further, Sarma said, “In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the mandate we had got was reduced in the assembly elections to 25 per cent. So, if we compare the Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections, we have reached to 52 seats from 25, which became possible through the efforts of the state’s party workers.
Reiterating the gratitude to Jharkhand’s public, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Party workers from all over the country are bowing towards the public of Jharkhand for making BJP victorious on nine seats and contributing largely in the creation of BJP’s government for the third consecutive term. We have called the media to express our gratitude to the public of Jharkhand.”
Countering the questions about lost seats in the elections, the Assam CM said, “The narrative is being built on only talking about the lost seats. We should discuss on the seats which we have won and not about the one on which we lost the elections.”
Taking a potshot on Champai Soren, the current CM of Jharkhand, Sarma asserted, “Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, who hails from the tribal community has lost the elections on his own tribal constituency, if I would be the Champai Soren, I would have resigned from the post of CM for not winning the elections on these seats.”
Expressing his confidence, Sarma mentioned, “We should thank Babulal Marandi Ji and team for winning the elections on 9 seats of Lok Sabha which is synonymous to 52 seats of Assembly seats. Today we near the mark of 52, in future, we can also reach to the mark of 70 seats.”
Earlier in the day, Union Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand Assembly election co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Chouhan and Sarma planted trees at ICAR, Namkum campus and Lichi Bagan in Ranchi’s Hatia area, respectively, as part of the party’s ‘Ek ped maa ke naam’ drive.
Along with Jharkhand, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jammu and Kashmir will also undergo Assembly polls.
The terms of the existing Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will end in January 2025 and the Election Commission (EC) has kicked off preparations for holding Assembly elections. (ANI)
