Dubai [UAE], August 10 (ANI/WAM): The fourth day of the IMMAF Youth World Championships at Mubadala Arena featured intense competition as some of the world’s top young athletes showcased their skills in the octagon.
The arena was buzzed with energy as a jubilant crowd, representing various nationalities, watched the contenders compete.
Friday’s events highlighted the Youth A category (aged 16-17), with athletes pushing their limits in pursuit of victory. The competition in the division will continue tomorrow, marking the final day of this thrilling fifth edition of the championships.
The championships are organised by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
Abdullah Al Zaabi, Head of the Events and Activities Section at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, emphasised the role of the UAE’s visionary leadership in the championship’s success.
“We’ve hosted this championship for three years in a row and have extended the hosting agreement for another three years. This is part of our efforts to establish Abu Dhabi as a premier destination for major international sports events. We aim to promote mixed martial arts by organising local, regional, and international championships. These events help us discover and nurture young talents, allowing them to perform at their best and enhancing the sport’s global presence.”
“The Federation is dedicated to building a strong national team capable of competing at all levels and continuing the success we’ve witnessed in recent years. We’ve developed advanced training programmes and organised intensive training camps both in the UAE and abroad, while also bringing in top coaches and technical experts. We are focused on identifying and supporting young talents early on to help them develop their skills. These efforts are part of our long-term strategy to strengthen the UAE’s position in the global sports arena.
“This year’s championship has been widely praised by all participating delegations. They’ve been very impressed with the high level of organisation and the warm welcome they received in Abu Dhabi. Officials, athletes, and families alike have commended the excellent services and advanced facilities, ensuring a great experience for everyone and making the championship a standout event.”
Garegin Aghabalyan, President of the Armenian Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said: “The organisation of the championship is excellent, and Abu Dhabi has a great reputation for hosting events like this. They’ve successfully held this event for three years in a row, meeting the highest standards.” (ANI/WAM)
