Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], November 6 (ANI): Maharashtra Leader of the Opposition and Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Wednesday responded to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarks over Rahul Gandhi’s “Samvidhan Sammelan” and said that it was an ‘insult’ to the social organisations.
Speaking to ANI, LoP Wadettiwar said, “If BJP says his (Rahul Gandhi’s program in Hyderabad) program is ‘nautanki’, it means BJP is scared of him. To call such a program as ‘urban Naxalite’ is an insult to the social organisations.”
“If you are calling them ‘urban naxalites’, then the Home Minister should get an inquiry done as to who are these ‘urban naxals’. If you insult the social organisations, then they will take revenge in the elections,” said Wadettiwar.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday slammed Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over ahead of his “Samvidhan Sammelan” event in Nagpur on November 6.
Fadnavis, also the BJP candidate from Nagpur South-West, accused Gandhi of insincerity.
Speaking to reporters, the Maharashtra Deputy CM said, “He has no devotion to the Constitution. This is just his drama and nothing else. Nobody is going to vote for him with his drama.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to begin his poll campaign for the Maharashtra Assembly elections on Wednesday in Nagpur, where he will attend a “Samvidhan Sammelan” (Conference on Constitution).
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole said that after attending the samvidhan sammelan at Nagpur on November 6, Rahul Gandhi will be in Mumbai by evening and will be releasing MVA guarantees in Mumbai alongside Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray.
The Maharashtra assembly elections are set for November 20, with the counting of votes for all 288 constituencies scheduled for November 23.
The opposition MVA coalition, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), aims to reclaim power in the state, challenging the Mahayuti alliance, which includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42. (ANI)
