Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 5 (ANI): The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, flagged off a vehicle carrying relief material for Kullu on Friday ahead of the monsoon flood and rain.
The truck sent from Raj Bhawan, comprising blankets, kitchen sets, hygiene kits and tarpaulins will be used by the district administration for disaster-hit areas.
Speaking to the media, the governor said that he has alerted everyone concerned that the Raj Bhawan and the state government is well prepared for any disaster-related problems arising due to monsoon rains.
Shiv Pratap Shukla, the governor of Himachal Pradesh, said, “Last year also, there was a disaster, and we had to send relief material again and again. This year, through the Red Cross, we have tried to ensure that relief material is provided before any disaster so that it can be used at the right time. I shall send the material to the places where it is needed and today for the first time, we have sent one vehicle. last year, we sent six vehicles of relief material.”
He further stated that Raj Bhawan was alert and flagged off the first vehicle of relief for the Kullu district.
“Raj Bhawan is alert on it; the government will also help but Raj Bhawan wants to fulfil its responsibility and we shall send the material to all districts and we have flagged off the first relief vehicle to Kullu district. Our members of the Red Cross are alert. I have spoken with the government that we should be alert for the monsoon damages and the government has ensured us all the assistance,” he added.
He appealed to the tourists to avoid travelling near the rivers and rivulets.
“Last year we had huge disasters. I would request tourists not to visit the rivers and rivulets as rivers are flooded and they should avoid taking selfies near the rivers. Those who are visiting Lahaul-Spiti should prior inform administration and also their families, as there are network issues in those areas. If informed at the right time, there will be no worry for the family or for the administration. We always get alert only after the incidents and need to get prepared and people should also fulfil their responsibility to deal with the monsoon-related problems,” the governor added. (ANI)
