Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 23 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday announced the ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ initiative. Under this programme, the Chief Minister, along with all the ministers, will visit remote villages to meet residents and address their grievances, according to the press release.
This outreach to rural communities is the first of its kind in the state. The Chief Minister’s inaugural visit, to the far-flung Dodra-Kwar region, is scheduled for October 26.
All ministers have been directed to visit rural hamlets in their respective areas, not only to address complaints but also to inform locals about development programmes and schemes.
The initiative aims to help the government better understand how to maximise the impact of its schemes and will also provide feedback on the performance of police officers and officials stationed in these regions.
Shankar Chauhan, Pradhan of the Temple Committee in Kwar, praised the state government’s efforts in prioritising rural areas. “This initiative by the Chief Minister and ministers will usher in a new era, accelerating development and addressing our grievances. The ‘sarkaar’ is coming to address our needs and will stay with us. This will give them insight into the hardships faced by those living in remote areas,” he said.
Retired teacher Sh. Hardyal also lauded the government’s action, stating that the visits will likely resolve 90 per cent of complaints on the spot.
Since taking office, Chief Minister Sukhu has prioritised public engagement. In one notable instance, he organised a two-day public “darbar” in Kaza, a village in the Lahaul-Spiti district, where he listened to residents’ concerns and announced several development projects based on their feedback.
To alleviate hardships in rural areas, the government has issued instructions to address pressing issues such as access to drinking water, road maintenance, walkway construction, and power supply. This outreach initiative underscores the Chief Minister’s commitment to inclusive governance and rural development. (ANI)
