Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 19 (ANI): Several trees were uprooted in the heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, that lashed Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district and its neighbouring areas on Tuesday night.
Motorists, and other road users, had to temporarily seek shelter on the sides of the Tiruchi-Dindigul Highway, and resumed driving only after the rain subsided.
Dozens of trees were uprooted due to the gusty winds in the city causing damage to the parked vehicles and other properties.
Electric poles also got uprooted causing disruption in power supply to many parts of the city, and neighbouring areas. Similarly, the winds blew away barricades that were installed at many places to regulate traffic.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting rainfall with gusty winds. (ANI)
