New Delhi [India], January 28 (ANI): Congress candidate from New Delhi assembly constituency Sandeep Dikshit on Tuesday took a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his allegation against the BJP-ruled Haryana government of ‘poisoning’ Yamuna water. Dikshit accused the AAP leader of ‘lying’.
Speaking to ANI, Dikshit said that he is surprised that no action is being taken against him by Haryana Police or Delhi Police.
“This is a serious allegation … Arvind Kejriwal should explain what kind of poison was there (in the water)… He is lying and still allowed to roam free. If a common man alleges the government of genocide, he will be in jail the very next day. I am surprised that no action is being taken against him by Haryana Police or Delhi Police. Where is the election commission?” the Congress leader said.
“I think either there is an internal alliance between both the parties (AAP and BJP) or these institutions aren’t worried about such issues, even if people get panicked… A case was registered against a person who gave a bomb threat to schools in Delhi. Either what Arvind Kejriwal is saying is true–then he should extend evidence and if not, there must be a case registered against him,” he added.
The remark came after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that the BJP-ruled Haryana government has “poisoned” the Yamuna water supplied to Delhi so that “people die” and the blame comes on the AAP.
“BJP’s Haryana government has poisoned the water in Yamuna. If this water had entered Delhi only to be mixed with the drinking water, many people would have died in Delhi. It would have caused mass genocide,” the former Delhi chief minister alleged. Kejriwal said in a press conference while claiming that the alertness of the Delhi Jal Board prevented the mixing of alleged poisoned water with drinking water.
Kejriwal’s remarks prompted sharp reactions from BJP. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini warned to file a defamation suit against AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his remarks on the pollution in the Yamuna river.
“For these blatantly false and disgusting statements, Kejriwal should immediately apologise to the people of Haryana and Delhi for this statement; otherwise, we will file a defamation suit against him,” Saini said.
Notably, Sandeep Dikshit will take on Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat in the February 5 assembly polls. (ANI)
