Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 25 (ANI): Former Himachal Pradesh (HP) Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the HP Assembly, Jairam Thakur, participated in the mass hearing event for the 113th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” programme at the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, Deepakmal Bhawan in Chakar, on Sunday.
He also attended a workshop on the District Membership Campaign 2024 during the event.
Addressing the gathering, Thakur said, “The ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme is the most popular programme of PM Modi. The way he engages with the students of IIT Madras in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ serves as a significant encouragement for the Start-Up scheme.”
Speaking on the BJP’s District Membership Campaign, Thakur stated, “Under the BJP Membership Campaign 2024, Himachal Pradesh is exceeding the target of enrolling 200 members at each booth. The organisation is set to have 16 lakh members in Himachal Pradesh. Today, the BJP is not only the largest political party in the country but also in the world; other political parties are far behind the BJP. This campaign will be launched across the country on September 1 and in the state on September 2.”
Jairam Thakur also discussed the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), describing it as “great news for employees.”
“When the elections were ongoing, we assured employees about the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), emphasising that the BJP was serious about addressing the concerns of employees nationwide. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the BJP moved forward with commitment and introduced the UPS across the country, which has made employees across the nation happy. This is very significant news that will secure the future of all employees.” He also expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for this decision.
Jairam Thakur later criticised HP Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, asserting that the CM “should clarify his stance on employee-related issues.”
“The current environment between employees, ministers, and the Chief Minister in Himachal Pradesh is unfortunate. Why are employees protesting on the streets today? Why are they worried? Why are promotions, dearness allowances, and arrears still pending across the state?” he questioned.
He further remarked that the CM has delivered “enough speeches” and that “it’s time for solutions.”
The event was presided over by District President Prem Thakur, with former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, State Vice President Rajiv Saizal, and Sanjeev Katwal among other leaders and party workers in attendance. (ANI)
