New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday said that Delhi Minister Atishi has been admitted to hospital adding that the latter is not fighting for herself, she is fighting for the people of Delhi for water.
Delhi Minister Atishi was admitted to the hospital after her health condition deteriorated as she was on an indefinite hunger strike against the Haryana government for not releasing 100 million gallons per day (MGD) of water thus creating a water crisis in the national capital.
“Her blood sugar levels dropped to as low as 43. The doctors suggested she be admitted to the hospital before her condition worsens… She is being admitted to LNJP Hospital. She has not eaten anything for the last 5 days. Her sugar levels have dropped, ketone is increasing, and BP is decreasing… She is not fighting for herself, she was fighting for the people of Delhi, for water,” Singh told ANI.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj informed that Delhi Minister Atishi’s blood sugar level has fallen to 36 due to which the latter has been admitted to hospital.
“Atishi’s blood sugar level fell to 36, so she has been admitted to LNJP Hospital,” Bharadwaj posted on X.
Speaking to ANI, Bharadwaj said that doctors are checking her vitals and then doctors would give some suggestions.
“Her blood sugar levels had been dropping from the night. When we submitted her blood sample, her sugar levels came out to be 46. When we checked her sugar levels from a portable machine, her sugar levels came out to be 36… Doctors are checking her vitals and only after that will they give suggestions,” he said.
Atishi has been admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in the national capital in the early hours of Tuesday.
Atishi’s indefinite hunger strike entered its fifth day on Tuesday. She said that Haryana is not releasing Delhi’s share of water.
According to the AAP press release, a health checkup done on the minister revealed that her blood pressure and sugar levels dropped drastically.
The speed with which Atishi’s blood sugar level and blood pressure have dropped has been described by doctors as dangerous, said AAP.
Water Minister Atishi, who was on an indefinite hunger strike to ensure the water rights of 28 lakh Delhiites, has said that her indefinite hunger strike will continue till the Haryana government provides the water rights of Delhiites and till the gates of Hathnikund Barrage are not opened, said AAP.
The AAP has alleged that the neighbouring state of Haryana is supplying 100 million gallons per day (MGD) less water every day, which has severely affected the lives of 28 lakh people in Delhi, adding to the problem of water shortage.
The issue of water shortage arose with the high temperatures and heat wave conditions in the national capital.
The people of Delhi have been counting on water tankers to meet their daily water requirements.
Amid soaring temperatures, these scenes have become a daily occurrence in many areas of the national capital since the start of the summer season this year. (ANI)
