Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], November 4 (ANI): A relief collection camp was organised in Srinagar by the Ehsaas Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), for the Kashmiri Pandit families impacted by a recent fire in the Purkhoo and Mishriwala areas of Jammu. The camp aims to provide essential assistance for these families, who have suffered significant losses in the incident.
Residents of Srinagar’s downtown area joined as volunteers, emphasizing their commitment to unity and assistance across communities.
“We have set up a camp for our Kashmiri Pandit brothers, for the migrants from Purkhoo and Mishriwala to provide relief owing to the fire incident. We want to give a message of brotherhood. We stand with our Kashmiri Pandit brothers. Whatever we collect from here, we will distribute it in Jammu. We appeal to people to participate in this relief collection. Be it our brothers from the Sikh community or Pandit, we stand with all. The camp will be here for three days,” Fahiem Reshi, a socio-political activist, said.

“This camp has been set up by the Ehsaas Foundation for three days to provide relief to the fire victims of Purkhoo. The fire accident happened two or three days ago. Nearly 12 migrant families of Kashmiri Pandits were affected by the incident. We have set up camp only for them so that we can help them get over the troubles they are facing. I have also contributed and we will work for them day and night. Kashmiris are known for their brotherhood. A Kashmiri Muslim is standing in downtown Srinagar to help Kashmiri Pandit. This is an example of brotherhood,” Haris, a resident of the downtown area, said.

Mir, a volunteer for the Ehsaas Foundation said, they had organised two more camps earlier in the downtown area.
“I, as a volunteer, want to send a message to Kashmiri Pandits that we are with you. We are doing this for the sake of humanity. Those affected by the fire are also our brothers. We want to contribute and help them during this time of hardship. We are doing this because we think that they belong to us. We will keep doing this,” he said.

Locals said the relief camp serves as a powerful symbol of brotherhood between Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Muslims, and other communities living in Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
