Chennai (Tamil Nadu), October 19 (ANI): Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) cadres protested against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Saturday for allegedly “continuously acting against the interests of Tamil people.”
The organization’s cadres protested by sending over a 1,000 postcards to Raj Bhavan and writing the ‘Tamil Thai’ greeting

Edward Prabhakaran, the district organiser of the party said that the Governor wants to change the state’s anthem, is continually act against the interest of Tamil people, and is allegedly refusing to speak the words Periyar, Anna, Ambedkar and Kamarajan.
“We have assembled here to show our protest against the Governor. He is continuously acting against the interest of Tamil people. He is refusing to speak the words Periyar, Anna, Ambedkar, and Kamarajan. He is painting saffron colour on our Vellalar, who worked all his life against Sanatana Dharma and the caste inequality in our society in a spiritual way. Similarly, he has insulted the state’s anthem, this insult is preplanned, he wants to remove certain lines of the Tamil anthem. Governor wants to remove a certain part of the Tamil anthem. That line shows the identity of the Dravidian people, it shows the history of Tamil movement, so he wants to erase that,” Prabhakaran told ANI.
The protests are in response to RN Ravi participating in Doordarshan Chennai’s golden jubilee celebrations, as during the event a distorted rendition of the state’s anthem was played without referencing the line about the glory of “Dravida” land.
Earlier, state’s deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin demanded that the Union Government immediately recall the Governor who, he alleged, wanted to destroy unity.
“In the ‘DD Tamil’ Hindi celebration program held with the participation of TN Governor RN Ravi, the line ‘Dravida Thirunadu’ has been removed from the Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu (State anthem). Tamil Nadu is in a state of anger for that,” Udhayanidhi Stalin said in a post on X on Friday.
Moreover, Chief Minister MK Stalin also made a remark wondering if the Governor was the “Governor” or an “Aryan.” The Chief Minister said this while condemning the distorted rendition of the State anthem at the DD Chennai function.
In response, Ravi said that the Chief Minister had lowered the dignity of his office by making “racist” remark against him.
“Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru.@mkstalin has issued a regrettable tweet this evening in which he made a racist remark against me and levelled false allegation of showing disrespect to Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu… Making racist remark and alleging incorrect imputations against governor by the chief minister is unfortunately cheap and lowers the dignity of the high constitutional office of the chief minister,” the Governor said in a post from the X handle of Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan.
Additionally, the CM also alleged that the Governor is “deliberately disrespecting” Tamil Nadu and its people. He reiterated his demand to the Union government to recall the Governor.
“A few questions for the Hon’ble Governor, who has responded to my strong criticism for not singing the line ‘Dekkanamum Ittishita Dravidanal Tirunadum’ in Tamil at the closing ceremony of the Hindi Month celebration. Shouldn’t you, who say ‘I will sing Tamil greetings with full devotion’, immediately condemn them for not completing the song? the TN CM posted on X. (ANI)
